Watmmopolis unveiled

On Sunday evening we had the first viewing of Watmmopolis in its entirety. This being a crowdsourced project, naturally the premiere was also geographically distributed and virtual. We used the synchtube service to make sure we were all watching it at the same time, and it worked pretty well, aside for some faffing about on my part when my connection went down : ). About 20 people watched the full 188 minutes together, which was a pretty good turn out considering the short notice. There were no paparazzi or red carpet at this premiere, but who needs those when you have a chatroom with this kind of chat?

Seq 15 change

When I started looking after this project for Squee and Rook, various sequences had already been finished, and they handed the files over to me. Someone had already done sequence 15, but I had trouble getting hold of them to secure their agreement to post it on YouTube. Hence Sequence 15 went back into the pool of unfinished bits, and Cowboys for Christ eventually composed some music for it.

However, the original contributor for sequence 15 has now been tracked down. And so with the agreement of Cowboys for Christ I'm going to use the original instead - its by someone called 'u', and it will be unveiled soon. The Cowboys for Christ version will continue to be available here as an alternative.

Why is there a timestamp on the videos?

When the people who started this project originally split the film into 23 sequences, they put on the timestamp to help contributors match the music to the visuals.

Unfortunately, its a rather big job to slice the film up again into exactly the same sequences (down to the millisecond) to get rid of the timestamp. We might get round to it eventually though.

Will there be a DVD?

That was the original plan, but given how long its taken to get this far, it might not appear for a while. A torrent may be more practical than an actual DVD. A lot of people are asking, so we'll start looking into it ...
